Design and Build!!
Asus Zenfone 4 is a budget oriented smartphone. Build quality is as expected not premium but is very good considering the price. Buttons on the phone give nice clicky feedback. Display of the phone is very good and has a resolution of 480x800 pixels with density of 233 ppi. Front of the phone is protected by corning gorilla glass 3 making it somewhat scratch resistant.
Hardware
Asus Zenfone 4 has Intel® Atom™ Dual-Core Z2520 Processor clocked in at 1.2 GHz with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology as a result of which android recognizes it as a quad core processor. It is a decent entry level processor and performs admirably fast. The phone is smooth and lag free thanks to 1 GB of RAM during multitasking. For gaming it features PowerVR SGX 544 GPU which astonishingly performed very good and played almost all the games at high settings with manageable to no lag. It comes with 1600 mAh battery which in our test will easily last you a day of moderate usage.
Camera and Other features
Asus Zenfone 4 comes with a 5 MP primary camera with Asus own PixelMaster technology. It supports various customization options like its elder sibling but fails to match their qualities as expected it gives decent shots at best. The phone supports 1080p video recording which is also average and has a 2MP front camera for video calling. The phone supports USB OTG and has dual SIM support. It also plays 1080p video without any lag whatsoever.
Software
Asus Zenfone 4 like all other Zenfone’s runs on Asus custom user interface ZenUI built over android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Asus have promised 4.4 KitKat update and is expected to be available soon. ZenUI is a very beautiful looking UI with lots of customization done to add various cool features and apps. Notification panel has similarities to iOS with the use of same beautiful round icons. The plus point of UI is while making your phone an admirable device it doesn’t eat into its performance and is incredibly light on system resources.
Why would you love it?
Asus Zenfone 4 like Moto E offers great value for money and is a grand cheaper than it with marginally better camera. The phone also has better gaming performance than Moto E and looks trendy with its adorable front metallic bezel. The performance of the phone is very good and so is the UI.
